Pets can be wonderful additions to the family. Having a dog, cat or bird that grows up with your children can be great. However, if you get the wrong pets you can find yourself in a lot of trouble. A dog that won’t stop biting or a cat that won’t stop relieving themselves all over the house, could make everyone miserable.
Dogs are excellent pets. Pick breeds that have the proper temperaments for your personality. Be sure to take everyone that will live with the pets to pick them out. First reactions are very important. If the pets you plan are getting are unfriendly in the kennel, you may want to rethink buying that dog. If you really want a dog be sure that you are ready for the responsibility that comes with one. No matter what pets you get all of them will require a fair share of taking care of. However, dogs are a ton of responsibility. Someone will need to be home every couple of hours to walk the dog. Dog food can also be very costly. Dogs also really like attention. If you are never home do not get a dog. They will be lonely and you will have little surprises waiting for you all around the house when you get home.

Are far as pets go, cats are relatively easy. If you are away from home for long periods of time, cats are the way to go. You will be able to work a twelve hour shift, no problem. Your cats will probably be curled up on the sofa when you get home. They are litter trained so there are no worries in the bathroom department.
Cats can be great pets but they are very independent. If you are looking for pets that can take care of themselves, as long as you keep the litter clean and the food and water bowl cleaned, go for cats. Other pets that you may want to think about are spiders, mice and birds. You may balk at the idea of having tarantulas as pets but did you know that tarantulas have a long life span. If you are searching for pets that are going to hang in there for the next twenty years, get tarantulas. Birds are nice pets for low maintenance pet owners are well. As long as you keep the cage clean, the water and food bowl full, you are in the clear. Your bird will be waiting for you when you get home. |
